This information is under consideration for the Illinois state wiki.
It should not be considered official guidance.

Illinois has two basic road naming schemes for rural road addressing. One uses a coordinate system, typically expressed as the number of miles North and East of the county line. The other uses road names, with addressing, again, typically the number of miles North or East of the county line.

Separate from the addressing schemes are a system of county maintained highways. These are typically classed as collector roads by the IDOT FC system. In Waze, they would be primary streets.

County maintained highways with a designation of County Highway nn should be named CH-nn, typically as an alternate name. The primary name should be the name used for addressing. Coordinate based roads desgnated County Rd nn E/N shoud be named CR-nn E/N.
