With recent changes to the New England Locking Standards I wanted to identify significant roads in Massachusetts that may benefit from a higher locking level. Here are my initial thoughts please feel free to comment and edit.

-------

The following roads have been identified because of their significance in the Massachusetts road network as needing a higher lock level due to volume of traffic or complexity.

  • SR-1 (from the end of the Freeway Section to where it crosses over I-95 in Danvers)
  • SR-2 (from the end of the Freeway Section in Acton to Boston)
  • SR-9 (from Boston to Worcester)
  • US-6 (the entire non freeway section on Cape Cod)
  • Massachusetts Ave till it becomes a minor highway in Lexington
  • Memorial Drive
  • Storrow Drive/Soldier Field Rd
  • Commonwealth Ave
  • Beacon St
  • Boylston St (is also SR-9 for a stretch)
  • Jamaicaway/Riverway/Arborway
  • VFW Pkwy
  • William T Morrissey Blvd
  • Dorchester Ave
  • The Major Highways (MH) running along side the I-93 Tunnel in Boston
  • Bridges / Tunnels for Boston
  • All MH Roundabouts (related to Roundabouts in MA )
