At-grade connector

Some roundabouts are designed with physically separated bypass roads or at-grade connectors (AGCs). These present special difficulties in mapping and routing.

Waze can have a tendency to avoid routing users over AGC segments, especially when they are physically very close to a junction. In the case of a roundabout, Waze routes users into the roundabout and back out on the first exit. This is often confusing to drivers. It is usually contrary to guide signs or even prohibited by regulation signs.

With at-grade connectors at standard intersections, editors usually prohibit the redundant turn at the junction in order to force routing through the AGC only. However, doing so at roundabouts causes problems.
