The Waze Map Editor is a system that allows its users to edit the map, and take care of map issues that come from construction, natural disasters, and roads that have never been Munched by Waze Client users. It also allows users to correct issues with turn-by-turn navigation, and add in split roads to make sure that Waze does not navigate you into a dead end road, or allow you to take left on a road that has a median, blocking a left turn (or right in non-US countries). It also allows Waze users to insert landmarks and other businesses, including parking lots and parking garages to help in GPS Navigation.
Limitations
Under "expected conditions", the development team would like changes to propagate to the client within 24-48 hours of it being updated in the Editor. However, due to current limitations of the system, updates in Cartouche or Waze Map Editor (WME) can take as long as 4 to 6 weeks to propagate to clients.

Edit Maximums
In order to prevent malicious editing, users may only edit items within 1 mile of any GPS Point that they have been to in the last three months. Any items that are located 100% outside of the 1 mile radius cannot be edited. Some items may be locked, such as major highways, or roads prone to malicious editing, and only Area Managers, Waze Contractors and Waze Staff can edit the item.
Future development plans are to increase the maximum radius as you become more trusted in the system. Currently, the Waze.com introductions mention this feature, but it is not implemented.
Browser Compatibility
Currently, Waze supports two editors. The first, and oldest is named Cartouche and is supported by most up-to-date browsers (IE 7+/Firefox 2.0+/Chrome 17.0+/Opera 10.0+). However, Chrome can use the newer Waze Map Editor (WME), which uses newer technologies to make it easier to edit. It is recommended to use WME unless you are on a system that does not support Chrome.
