2016/11/28 One of the other MAR SMs sent me a link to his resume and I found it interesting to look back on the way he got to where he was so I decided to follow suit, although a good deal later. I am a good deal more verbose than he was but...

-- 2014/09/24 I started editing. My drive each day included a triangle from Annnapolis, MD, up to Baltimore, MD, down to Washington, DC so I had a lot of area.

2014/11/04 I sent my first PM to russblau as I was working a UR in DC. I remember running into russblau when he pointed out the error of my ways when I had started mapping alleys in DC. Yeah, these were roads I've used but they were not named and did not get mapped per DC guidelines. Around here, I discovered that each state had a wiki page and how difficult it was to navigate the wiki.

2014/11/05 I received my "Welcome to Waze Editing" PM. One of the editors in MD figured out I was there and reached out to me.

2014/11/13 I auto-promoted to R2. Looking back, those 1,000 edits seemed like a lot but I really did not learn what was going on until I started really working with the larger group. Adding and deleting mistakes definite rushed this promotion. Looking back, the new 3,000 edits seem like a double edge sword. We lose more editors if the experienced editors do not help us get there but we get that extra time

2014/12/21 Participated in my first raid in LA. I was assigned to group 14. It lasted 2 weeks and was a huge learning experience. This was where I realized that the biggest contribution a lowly R2 could make was places. This was where I developed my dislike for locking places before they are completed. Guidance was to lock gas stations to R3 but I could not finish them without an unlock request.

2015/01/06 I discovered how hard it is to coordinate a large group of people connecting from around the globe. We did a photo shoot for the LA Raid. I still have the image somewhere but it was a nice idea. This went on for several days though.

2015/01/25 Participated in my second raid in Canada, specifically in Montreal. I was assigned to Team 2 but I had a family emergency which required me to fly out of town for a week of the raid. Upon my return, I requested an extension of my AM rights to complete the tasks I was working on. I received my R3 promotion as part of this MapRaid.

2015/02/15 Participated in my third raid in Dallas/Ft Worth. I have been there multiple times for work so I thought I would know a bunch there. Boy, I remembered nothing and had to find my way around.

2015/03/09 MegaMapRaid #1 started. I was assigned to Baltimore group #1 but I participated more as a local in the Baltimore/Washington area. I did not realize how much work it was to deal with a bunch of us outsiders running amok until I watched the swarm descend upon our area.

2015/04/04 Participated in my fifth raid in Florida. I ended up in the swamps which turned out to have a ton to do. I still had some edit area from Tampa down the gulf coast from my trip in January.

2015/06/08 Participated in my sixth raid in Philadelphia. I find it interesting that I honestly do not remember this raid except that I made the Hall of Fame.

2015/07/02 Participated in my seventh raid in China. I found this raid unenjoyable and ended up giving up after a few days. I am very particular about the work I do (at least most of the time) and we did not have a real source of truth here. We were adding roads from aerials only and hoping someone would come along later to add names etc.

2015/07/19 Participated in my eighth raid in Boston. I was assigned to group #8.

2015/08/15 Received an AM expansion in Frederick to assist with western Maryland. Once I got started working there and helping the locals up there, I realized how small the area was. I am a firm believer that you do not ask for more until you have cleaned up what you have so I worked on this.

2015/12/01 I started my second international MapRaid in Venezuela. I was in group #5. I had the same issue that I had in China, namely a lack of official sources and I did not enjoy doing half a job so I was only half-hearted into this raid. I determined that I was no longer going to do international mapraids after this one.

2016/03/01 Participated in my ### raid in Pennsylvania. We were working on speed limits.

2016/03/08 Participated in my ### raid in Rhode Island. We were again working on speed limits and we overlapped with the Pennsylvania MapRaid.

2016/03/30 Promoted to R4 and started discussions about an AM expansion.

2016/09/15 Promoted to State Manager in Maryland.

2017/01/17 Promoted to R5.

2017/03/24 Participated in my ### raid in West Virginia. I led group 2 with David and Lisa. We had a large group of 60 people in our group but there only seemed to be about 15-20 people in our group that spent any time editing. Our primary goal was base map. This made for a large number of edits for a bunch of editors. I found it challenging to find time to edit though. I picked up a new mentor in the lead-up to the raid.

2017/10/14 Participated in my ### raid in India, named Van.

2017/11/01 Participated in my ### raid in Zambia. We were working from aerials alone and it was challenging to determine what was roads and what was not. An interesting point was made during this MR by another SM, when he asked what was missing. His answer? cars in the aerials.

2017/12/27 Submitted and received an AM in Seattle & Tacoma (SeaTac) as part of the NWR-MAR collaboration efforts.

2018/02 Participated in my ### raid in Russia.
