Projects
- Waze CCP Workshop at MD Dept of Transportation - with nzahn1 and kodi75, October 2019. We met with officials from MDOT to talk about Waze and how they can use real-time closures in Waze to respond to planned and unplanned closures on state highways. It felt great to join Nick and Dave in this meeting with MDOT regarding how we can work together help our fellow Wazers in Maryland. And I got a chance to wear one of my Waze shirts I got at a meetup!
- I-270 Watkins Mill Interchange - Gaithersburg MD interchange opened in June 2020. I mapped this new interchange, contacted the project manager, visited the work site, and talked to workers to confirm the opening date and approximate time. The interchange was open and routing in Waze within 15 minutes after the construction barrels were removed. It took the other mapping services more than a month to map it.
- White Flint West Workaround - North Bethesda MD major road construction, still in progress. I added the closures (major roads including a MH state highway were closed for over a month), mapped the intersection updates, visited the site multiple times, and I have been in touch with the project manager for updates. Again, our map updates here have been significantly more timely than other mapping services.
- Washington Commanders Football Operations - Landover MD. I have been attending Washington Commanders home football games, helping officials in the Operations Center with real-time road closures for inbound (pregame) and outbound (postgame) one-way traffic patterns. This has been a great opportunity to learn how they run these operations and work with officials from Prince George's County, MD Dept of Transportation, MD State Police, and Commanders staff.

- Informal Mentoring I have been very interested and active with both learning and helping other editors. Informal mentoring is a great way to share knowledge and experience, and I always welcome feedback from other editors
- MAR/GLR Collaboration Active in GLR since 2018, granted AM expansion in 2022
- Driving EA Collaboration I enjoy helping out in other regions when I have EA. Recently, I traveled to Chapel Hill, NC for a family gathering. After I got back, I had EA along I-85 and I did all the shields/turn instructions down to Durham, NC. I chatted with the NC editors and made sure I checked with them before I touched any freeways. After my updates, hiroaki27609 contacted me to thank me for helping out. I said I was happy to help and I appreciated the collaboration. I have also been helping out in Florida, Colorado, and Louisiana after traveling to each of these areas. I always communicate with local editors and I defer to SM's and (A)RC's with regional guidance. If there are ever any questions about a specific situation, I always ask first before I touch anything and I always make sure to be positive and respectful.
