Freeways & Highways

Freeways:(Lock at L4)

- Principal/National Highways with 1 or 2 digits

Name them Hwy # or Hwy ## respectively.

- Motorways (with 1 digit)

Name them Hwy #

- Expressways

All expressways are toll roads and are controlled by EXAT.

Name them as they are officially named.

Major Highways (Lock at L3)

Secondary Highways in Regions, with 3 digits.

Name them Hwy ###

Minor Highways (Lock at L2)

Provincial and Rural Highways/Roads with 4 digit digits.

Provincial Roads just have 4 digits, name these Hwy ####.

Rural Highways/Roads have 2 Thai characters (representing the Province) followed by 4 digits. Name these RR####

Many Highways and Motorways also have a common name associated with them. If this name appears on signage and/or is used by addresses, add the name within parentheses behind the above mentioned naming convention, e.g. Hwy ## (Name).

Only add the street name when you are sure of the local naming. If in doubt, just use Hwy # as primary and add the name as an alternate. Local editors can update the primary name later.
