Background and activation

As we see our map maturing, we understand the need for a better task management tool that will help you understand what should be done next in the WME. The Issue Tracker should also assist you in monitoring all map incoming issues.

  • To activate the Issue tracker, click on the issues layer. Please note that only the issue layers will still be active, while all the other child layers that used to exist can be filtered from the Issue Tracker filters and not the map layers.
  • You can also click the feed icon and a warning message will appear to turn on the Issues layer.

General Filters

  • Map Area: defines a filter to search for URs in the area of the Map that is currently visible to you, including the area behind the Issues Tracker panel.
  • Specific area: use this filter to search by country, state (if relevant in your country) and city. Please note that the city search should be done in the same language that you've used to name cities. For example in Israel, the country will be in English but the city will be in Hebrew.
  • Area manager: search for issues within your AMs.
  • When searching countries for example, in the area filter, once you´ll start typing you´ll see the countries that contain the characters you typed, not the ones that start with the characters you typed.

Sync results with Map

This option is only available when selecting the filter: map area.

Checking this option will sync your search results as you pan the map, and thus update the feed list.

Time

  • Updated: takes into account the last updated time of the issue.
  • Reported: takes into account the time the issue was reported.
  • Filter time by: today, yesterday, last 7 days, last 30 days, anytime. Use between to choose a specific time range.
  • Note that by default, reported and anytime are the filters.

General Feed display

  • Once you've chosen your filters, make sure you click apply. If you do not click apply, no filtering will be done.
  • When clicking a card in the feed, the issue will be automatically centered in your screen. Zoom in and you’ll be able to identify the issue, which will always be displayed on the center of your screen.
  • Issues are filtered and ordered according to the update time.
  • Once you solve an issue from the feed list, the color of the issue will change to reflect the new status. If you filtered, for example, only open issues please note you need to click the refresh button for the issue to be removed from the feed list.
  • In general, note that you can decide to filter all issue types: URs, PURs, MPs and MSs.
  • You can also choose to filter one type only. If you do so, the feed will only display the type of issue you filtered, for example:
    Remember to always click apply.

FAQs

What will happen with the Issues Layer?

It will remain as a layer called Issues that can only be toggled on/off, without any sub-layers.

How many issues are shown per page in the feed?

Up to 30.

Can we rename our areas from the Issue Tracker?

Although you cannot rename areas from the Issue Tracker itself, you can ask your community coordinators, GCs or LCs to request an AM rename. We have a process in place that was shared with them 🙂

What else is planned for the Issue Tracker that hasn’t been released?

  • Saved search, that will allow you to save frequent searches
  • Released:Updated by me filter in URs: to be able to filter those issues in which at some point in time you commented or solved
  • In beta: Mark issues as read/unread: to be able to come back to issues you could not solve at the time you saw them
  • In Beta:Stared label: to follow an issue closely and get updated about every change in it.
  • Released:Filter URs with vs without description: to be able to quickly identify issues that contain more details than others.
  • Add drives to the areas filters: to be able to filter issues within your drives
  • Compact mode for the filters panel: to reduce padding and save space
  • Indication that the filters are set to something else other than default + RESET filters
  • Sort issues by oldest first
  • Display information about issue location: at least city and address

What is the UR type: Blocked road?

These reports are generated by Waze users, by clicking the closure report.

Why do I see UR types that are not in the reporting menu of my country?

This is due to localization: the report likely appears in other environments with a different name. As an example, incorrect turn in IL is the equivalent of turn not allowed in NA. Missing exit is a report not available in IL, but present in NA.

How do I refresh the issues list?

You can refresh the issues list by using the refresh button.

What happened with SLURs?

Taking into consideration the low number of SLURs we receive (1 per day in ROW, 0.5 per day in IL and 6 per day in NA), and the usefulness of this report in its current state, together with future capabilities that other features will provide related to speed limits, we believe the best course of action at this time is to remove this UR type from the reporting menu of the app and consequently not show speed limit update requests as part of the new Issue Tracker.

We arrived at this decision by considering that if we show SLURs in the Issue Tracker, we would need to invest in a revamp of the design as well, and allocate engineering resources away from other features in the pipeline that we believe will bring more value to the Community and Waze map.

More information has been shared with the Coordinators and the WME Beta Pirates.
