Narrow streets are drivable, but hard to access by car. It's the kind of roads that are so narrow, you'd rather not get a route through when driving, unless it is significantly faster. However, as a motorcycle, narrow streets are convenient for navigation. Narrow Streets have a penalty for private cars and taxis between 5-10 minutes. Their default driving speed is 10kph until speed data is collected.

The routing server will also add a 3 hour penalty to such segments, so they will only be picked when there is absolutely no alternative available. All other regular dirt roads, that are still drivable with a standard sedan, should be of the ROAD TYPE Street with the Unpaved attribute checked

<!--T:2-->
Parking Lot Roads (PLRs) are used for:
* Roads in Parking lots. (for large, small and single road parking lots)
* Roads through Gas stations
* Drive-Through roads
They must also be used for the entrance and exit roads connecting the above features to freeways, service areas and regular roads. Routing on these roads has a penalty, and they will only be routed when your destination is on them, or if there is no alternative.

* Do NOT add a street name. ONLY when the Parking Lot Road has an official name, it can be entered. Please don't use names like 'Mall Parking'. This way street names will not be shown multiple times on the map. The name of a Parking Lot can be added to a Parking Lot Place.
* Do NOT lock. Unless you think it is necessary to prevent unwanted use or modifications. In case of any doubt, please discuss it with the Community. Service Area PLRs should be locked on the highway lock level.

<!--T:4-->
Keep it simple<br />
Roads in Parking Lots are sparsely drawn, to prevent cluttering the map. The most important thing is that people can be routed TO and FROM a parking lot. Many will be covered parkings anyway so GPS information will be incorrect and drivers might get locked onto adjacent roads. For small Parking Lots, a single road segment often suffices.<br />

<!--T:5-->
Wrong:
Right:

<!--T:6-->
For large Parking Lots (for example at an event center), consider mapping only the following:
* Main entrances from the roads outside the parking lot
* Lanes that run along entrances of buildings
* Lanes that run along main roads outside the parking area (to separate different speed tracks)
* Large parking lot lanes that serve to get people from one area of the lot to another

==Private road== <!--T:1-->
<span style="color: black; background-color: #E6E6E6; border:1px solid #D8D8D8; padding-left: 10px; padding-right: 10px; border-radius: 100px; white-space: nowrap;background-color: #BEBA6C; color:white; border-color: black; border-width: 2px; text-shadow: -1px -1px 0 #000, 1px -1px 0 #000, -1px 1px 0 #000, 1px 1px 0 #000, -1px 0px 0 #000, 1px 0px 0 #000, 0px -1px 0 #000, 0px 1px 0 #000;">&#160;Private roads&#160;</span>

<!--T:2-->
All roads which need special permission for access. Routing on these roads has a penalty, and they will only be routed when your destination is on them, or if there's no alternative. Some examples are:
* Streets within gated communities
* Roads only allowed for local traffic
* Private driveways <sup>1</sup>
* Military installations
* To prevent serious cut-through traffic
<br />
1 As a general rule we do NOT map private accesses to houses, farms or other buildings. BUT, on locations where relative many cars have a short stop, think of loading/unloading, you can consider drawing a Private road from the main segment to the address, to prevent the negative influence on average speed of the main segment. Consult the GPS-tracks.<br />

Private segments will have a HUGE penalty to them in such a way that you will get routed half way around the country IF there is a route to your destination with less penalty. Use them carefully and make sure to check your work when it goes live. Especially larger installations can be very tricky.

Ferry is used for crossing water by ferries with a regular service.
* Restrictions contain the timetable of the ferry
* For most ferries the passage isn't free, don't check the Toll road attribute on the Restrictions tab. So you can distinguish between the settings Avoid toll roads and Avoid ferries in the Waze app

 • Al Hamra St, Jumeirah 3 جميرا, United Arab Emirates

Narrow Street

 Narrow Street

Narrow streets are drivable, but hard to access by car. It's the kind of roads that are so narrow, you'd rather not get a route through when driving, unless it is significantly faster. However, as a motorcycle, narrow streets are convenient for navigation. Narrow Streets have a penalty for private cars and taxis between 5-10 minutes. Their default driving speed is 10kph until speed data is collected.

Offroad / Not-Maintained

 Off-road / Not maintained

A road that is physically impossible to drive by a normal sedan and should be avoided when possible. The routing server will also add a 3 hour penalty to such segments, so they will only be picked when there is absolutely no alternative available. All other regular dirt roads, that are still drivable with a standard sedan, should be of the ROAD TYPE Street with the Unpaved attribute checked

Parking Lot Road

 Parking Lot Road

Parking Lot Roads (PLRs) are used for:

 • Roads in Parking lots. (for large, small and single road parking lots)
 • Roads through Gas stations
 • Drive-Through roads

They must also be used for the entrance and exit roads connecting the above features to freeways, service areas and regular roads. Routing on these roads has a penalty, and they will only be routed when your destination is on them, or if there is no alternative.

 • Do NOT add a street name. ONLY when the Parking Lot Road has an official name, it can be entered. Please don't use names like 'Mall Parking'. This way street names will not be shown multiple times on the map. The name of a Parking Lot can be added to a Parking Lot Place.
 • Do NOT lock. Unless you think it is necessary to prevent unwanted use or modifications. In case of any doubt, please discuss it with the Community. Service Area PLRs should be locked on the highway lock level.

Keep it simple
Roads in Parking Lots are sparsely drawn, to prevent cluttering the map. The most important thing is that people can be routed TO and FROM a parking lot. Many will be covered parkings anyway so GPS information will be incorrect and drivers might get locked onto adjacent roads. For small Parking Lots, a single road segment often suffices.

Wrong: Too complex Right: Simplified

For large Parking Lots (for example at an event center), consider mapping only the following:

 • Main entrances from the roads outside the parking lot
 • Lanes that run along entrances of buildings
 • Lanes that run along main roads outside the parking area (to separate different speed tracks)
 • Large parking lot lanes that serve to get people from one area of the lot to another

Private road

 Private roads

All roads which need special permission for access. Routing on these roads has a penalty, and they will only be routed when your destination is on them, or if there's no alternative. Some examples are:

 • Streets within gated communities
 • Roads only allowed for local traffic
 • Private driveways 1
 • Military installations
 • To prevent serious cut-through traffic

1 As a general rule we do NOT map private accesses to houses, farms or other buildings. BUT, on locations where relative many cars have a short stop, think of loading/unloading, you can consider drawing a Private road from the main segment to the address, to prevent the negative influence on average speed of the main segment. Consult the GPS-tracks.

Private segments will have a HUGE penalty to them in such a way that you will get routed half way around the country IF there is a route to your destination with less penalty. Use them carefully and make sure to check your work when it goes live. Especially larger installations can be very tricky.

Ferry

 Ferry

Ferry is used for crossing water by ferries with a regular service.
