---- This page is only transcluded into (displayed on) the main page for this state.
---- It directly follows the common guidelines applicable to all states. When this
---- page is present (even if blanked), it displaces any optional code that might be
---- in that section.
----
---- For this section, the laws for each state must be determined by the individual
---- states. If no state unique content is created, the generic message will be
---- displayed saying the laws are unknown for the state.
----
---- Typically this page is preloaded with the following template. It is the same
---- template used on the generic page, but the legality of the speed and red light
---- cameras can be controlled in the template.
----

----
---- The named parameters "speed=" and "red=" control the language around the
---- legality of speed and red light cameras. Both parameters take the same variables
---- and these variables should be lowercase since they are used in the sentence.
---- Only these terms are accepted. Any other spellings or terms will result in
---- the default "unknown" condition:
----
---- permitted, legal    = Legal
---- prohibited, illegal  = Not legal
---- limited              = Limited laws; displays links to camera legality page
---- none                = No laws on the books
---- unknown, (empty)    = Waze editors have no information
----
---- If the "limited" type is used, the default template will send readers to the
---- generic Cameras/Legality/USA page. If that is not desired, The parameters
---- |limited-red= and |limited-speed= can be used to say or redirect those types
---- to a different place on the page or elsewhere. An example might be:
----
---- Alternately the term "below" could be replaced by a Wiki page or full URL link.
----
---- Some states have additional regulations or specific localities that relate to
---- speed and red light cameras. That information should be added here, or consider
---- adding it to the Cameras/Legality/USA page instead.
----
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---- If there will be a full page for this section, use code similar to the wording
---- below to provide a hyperlink to that page. When creating the full page, use the
---- link on the talk page to ensure the preload data is provided to help with
---- formatting the page. Don't just use the red link from this section once it is
---- saved.
----
See BasePage2/Cameras for guidance in RootPage2 that may not be universal to all other states.
----

---- This section has three possible purposes:
---- 1. It is only providing a hyperlink to the full page for this section.
---- 2. It is only providing some unique guidance for this state that differs from

---- 3. It is intentionally wiping out the general optional content for this section
---- for this state.

Based on information researched at the time this page was created, speed cameras are illegal statewide in New Jersey, and the limited legality of red light cameras in New Jersey is described in this page.

No other camera types should be mapped in Waze.

The most recent list from the NJDOT has a comprehensive guide to intersections with installations of red light cameras.

Note: Brick Township (although being listed on the above link) has recently passed legislation barring the use of ANY red light cameras.

Per NJ State legislation no cameras are used for enforcement or issuing citations.
