Split has been used to refer to several very different things, for which the waze editing community has been working to come up with more clear terms. In order to avoid confusion, please use these terms when talking to other editors about these things.

  • Fork: A fork in the road; a point where a single road diverges into two directions (previously called a split road)
  • Divided: A divided roadway or dual carriageway; two separate one-way roads with a dividing barrier, median or central reservation (previously called a split road)
  • Divide, Dividing, Un-Dividing
    • Divide: Creating a divided roadway or dual carriageway on the waze map by dividing a two-way road two adjacent one-way roads (previously called a splitting)
    • Un-Dividing: creating a single two-way road from a divided roadway.(previously called a un-splitting)
  • Cutting one segment into two shorter segments (previously called splitting)
