Oregon follows slightly different guidelines for naming Forest Service roads than are found in the [https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/USA/Forest_Service_Roads Forest Service Roads page].  FS roads in Oregon are all assigned a 7-digit number that can be found in the [https://usfs.maps.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?layers=f3ddf325eb02467da65b08d73280ae4a Motor Vehicle Use Map] (MVUM).  To avoid excessively long names, FS road signs and many map products use a truncated version of the MVUM number which better fits Waze's needs.  Naming should be set as follows:

Low-standard route signs

The national guidance for the naming of Forest Service roads does not cover the naming convention used on these roads in Oregon. Forest Service roads in Oregon are all assigned a 7-digit number that can be found in the Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM). To avoid excessively long names, Forest Service road signs and many map products use an abbreviated version of the MVUM number which also better fits Waze's needs. Names should be assigned as follows:
Primary Routes - Use the first two digits of the MVUM number.

Example: FS-46 / Breitenbush Rd (MVUM #: 4600000)

Secondary Routes Use the first four digits of the MVUM number.

Example: FS-4697 (MVUM #: 4697000)

Low-Standard Routes

Example: FS-350 (MVUM #: 4697350)

Mapping Resources

Currently, the most useful reference map known for Waze editing in National Forests is the Forest Service Topographical (FSTopo) Map Service. This map is believed to provide the most up-to-date road types and road condition assessments among the many products provided by the Forest Service, including the MVUM.
