--Guides

When dividing a road into a 2-way, confirm and consider the following for each segment in it's direction:

  • Cardinal directions: Note that the trailing N, S, E, W cardinal direction indicator is used for numbered highways and interstates which are divided into two 1-way segments, per the guidelines.
  • Speed limits: A speed in one direction may be different than the other direction for certain stretches of road;
  • Connecting segments: add new segments, such as parking lot roads, to allow direct access and directions from the new segment;
  • House numbers: Confirm the house numbers on each side of the road are anchored to the right segment. Preexisting house numbers may remain anchored to the original segment and require a nudge to ensure the stop point is on the correct segment and side of the road.
  • Places: Adjust as needed so that their stop points are accurate.
  • U-Turns: Confirm whether or not u-turns are allowed at cross-intersections. Sometimes a u-turn is allowed when going on direction but not going the other direction. Either adjust the segment to prevent or allow a u-turn based on the penalty system or add a junction box.
