Lane guidance is a new Waze driving feature that shows the driver precisely which lane they need to drive in to make their next turn, or continue straight ahead. This feature boosts Wazer confidence by providing reassurance in junctions both typical and unusual.
There is a corresponding tab in the Waze Map Editor, called Lanes. The Lanes tab allows map editors to tell Waze which lane to display to the driver for lane guidance in the mobile app. Adding lanes data to a segment does not affect routing.

As of 26 April 2020[update] The Lanes tab is only visible in the WME to rank 4 editors and lane guidance in the App is only visible to beta testers. Map any lane that achieves full and consistent width a significant distance BEFORE it becomes a separate roadway. For a freeway exit lane, do not count the exit as a lane if it branches off only at the exit. To be counted as a separate lane, it should typically achieve full lane width for a distance noticeable to the driver before the exit gore point. If someone travelling in the right lane can continue straight (on the same highway) without changing lanes, then lane guidance is not needed; normal Waze straight/turn lane function is enough. Consider what the road looks like to a driver - make the number of lanes in the lane guidance display conform to what the driver will see.
