Police Station
For public facilities where emergency law enforcement units are routinely stationed, use an Area Place and lock to at least Level 3. Set the name to only Police Station, so that Wazers will be able to easily identify it is a police station while using the mobile app.
For purposes of being fully searchable by Wazers, add an alternative name for the police station which uses the common name for the agency, and optionally the police station's specific precinct or office name if appropriate. Avoid the use of acronyms unless they are in common usage locally for that agency. Examples below:
- Seattle Police Department West Precinct
- Washington State Patrol District 5 Kelso Detachment
- King County Sheriff Precinct 2
- Spokane County Sheriff
For administrative law enforcement facilities where emergency units are not routinely stationed, use a Point Place, and set the name to the common name used by that agency for the facility.
Fire Department
Fire Station
For public facilities where emergency fire units are routinely stationed, use an Area Place and lock to at least Level 3. Set the name to only Fire Station, so that Wazers will be able to easily identify it is a fire station while using the mobile app.
For purposes of being fully searchable by Wazers, add an alternative name for the fire station which uses the common name for the agency, and optionally the fire station's specific name or number if appropriate. Avoid the use of acronyms unless they are in common usage locally for that agency. Examples below:

For administrative fire agency facilities where emergency units are not routinely stationed, use a Point Place, and set the name to the common name used by that agency for the facility.
Ambulance Station
The Fire Department category should also be used for dedicated ambulance-only facilities where ambulances are routinely stationed but which are not fire stations or hospitals, use an Area Place and lock to at least Level 3. Set the name to only Ambulance Station, so that Wazers will be able to easily identify it is an ambulance station while using the mobile app.
For purposes of being fully searchable by Wazers, add an alternative name for the ambulance station which uses the common name for the agency, and optionally the ambulance station's specific name or number if appropriate. Avoid the use of acronyms unless they are in common usage locally for that agency. Examples below:
