Restriction

There are restrictions on your permission to edit. For more information, please see Editing restrictions

Editing area
Generally, you can edit within your editing area. You gain editing area near where you drive with Waze running, as long as you have GPS signal and wifi or cell data connection. You can also edit in managed area.
Lock rank
Segments, places, and comments can be locked. Generally, you can edit objects which are not locked above your rank. You can edit places which are locked above your rank, and your edits will generate Place Update Requests that need to be reviewed by an editor who can edit the place.
Staff place locks
Sometimes, Waze staff lock places, often in preparation for an ad campaign. The effect is as if the place is locked above the rank of all other Waze editors, but the lock is not visible in WME.
Closure locking
You cannot edit a segment that has a closure. This prevents any edits which would change the segment ID.
Closures
Editors who have reached the minimum RTC rank (3 in the USA), or who have been granted RTC area can add and edit Real Time Closures.
Edits limited by rank
Setting real-time closures, deleting segments, closing update requests and map problems and renaming cities are all limited by rank.
Trusted place editor status
Editors below rank 2 need approval from a rank 2 or higher editor for all places regardless of the lock rank, until they reach a trusted status.
