Text to speech (TTS) refers to navigation instructions spoken to the driver by the Waze application. They are aligning (if all is well) to the visual prompts given in screen.

Route instructions

The instructions shown in screen (visual prompts) and spoken at route changes depend on several aspects. It is a combination of default instructions based on segment and connection specifics, and the given primary name. With turn instructions overrides (TIOs), the standard spoken default instruction can be altered. For the primary name, we can change the pronunciation in TTS as well.

If you encounter wrong pronounciation in Belux, you can report it in Slack channel #63-bl_tts.

Roundabouts

Roundabouts have their own set of instructionsː For a standard roundabout (4 exits) the instruction is Turn left at the roundabout. For other roundabouts, the instruction will be like Take the third exit at the roundabout.
