What is a TTS?

TTS (Text to speech) is a technology which converts normal language text into speech. In Waze we use TTS systems to provide navigation guidance in different languages, including street names!

Want to add a TTS in your language?

Please note: Adding a new TTS will depend on the localization team priority and availability

Follow the steps below:

  1. Get in touch with the [Localization Community Manager]
  2. We will need a group of at least 4 editors to make the translation and work in the voice, preference for editors with TTS Regular Expression ("RegEx") experience.
  3. Choose a name for the voice (Male and Female suggestions so we will have both cases).
