Street and City names

• For most road types both Street and City name should be specified. Check the road types for examples.

• Specify Street and optional City name in case of Ramps
• Specify only Street for Freeways and Railroads.
• Specifiy only a City name for Runways but also for Roundabouts.
• Specify City name and optional Street for Parking Lot Roads.
• Follow the same rules for Alternative names.

City names

City names are locked and can be consulted. The official city names can be found via Staatsalmanak.

The BAG is leading, for both street and city name.

Enter street and place names with all official accents. When searching by name without an accent, names with accents are also shown.
Only use one City name, also if a local village or neighboorhood is also known under another name.

Stadsgrens

Wanneer een segment meer dan 100 meter over de plaatsgrens heen loopt moet bij het aangeven van de plaatsnamen het segment gesplitst worden zodat in elk deel de juiste plaatsnaam aangegeven kan worden. De plaatsgrenzen worden met een grijze streep aangegeven in het editorscherm na het laden van de BAG-kaart in WME OpenMaps script.

De weergave van plaatsnamen op de kaart, de plaatsnaampolygoon, wordt afgeleid aan de hand van de plaats die bij segmenten en plaatsen is aangegeven. Dit kan tot gevolg hebben dat bij een bepaald gebied een andere, onjuiste plaats wordt vertoond wanneer dit gebied gedeeltelijk wordt ingesloten door gebied van de andere plaats. Controleer eventueel de gebruikte plaats- en segment-plaatsnamen.

Street names

All segments should get a City name, and most segments also get a Street name. There are exceptions.

• When there is a City name and Street name, it's possible there is also a road number. This road number should be positioned before the Streetname. Like: N200 - S103 - Haarlemmerweg
• Some highway segments are purposely not named, so the instruction is to the next segment.

And further:

• As the street name for exits, we use the official exit name as shown on the 1200m sign. Optionally with RS. Plus exit number only in the Exit shield. TTS: Exit # ri official exit name
• If the road is part of a U-route, the U-route identification, like U27, should be added as alternative street name. Do not use a City name for a U-route.
• The Street name of an Express Gasoline station place contains the Street name itself plus [<BRAND> EXPRESS].

Pronounciation

Remarks on the pronounciation of street names in the Text to speak navigation:

• The primary Street is used.
• If the offical Street name differs from the correct pronounciated Street name, the official Street name should be defined as alternative name.
  

Routing

There can be a problem with navigating to a fully defined destination - house number present or Residential Place defined - when there is closeby a segment with a matching Alternative Street name.
