Here are a few other things to be aware of when editing in RI.
These rows fill the major Event table, and are modified using the template Event/Item. If you are working on a Major Event in RootPage2, please add add that event to this table. If the event is already listed, please add your username to the row, preceded by a pipe (|), and change the date to today's date in the <code>updated=</code> parameter.

Handling Update Requests (URs)
RootPage2 has adopted a 1/4/10 day schedule when responding to Update Requests.
This template accepts many parameters which must be separated from each other using pipe characters (|), but can be placed in any order and will automatically  the correct parts of the table. To use a parameter you must keep the name of parameter (the part before the equals sign (=) identical to this list, and only modify what goes after the equals sign (=).
New URs should be responded to as soon as possible. If the solution is obvious, then fix the issue, leave a comment, and close out the report as "Solved". Otherwise, if there's ANY ambiguity to the problem, then leave a comment asking for further clarification. This starts the UR response clock.
clear
If the reporter hasn't responded within 4 days of your initial comment, then leave a gentle reminder to the reporter that you will close the report soon if you don't get a response.
clear
If the reporter does respond to your initial comment, then the response clock starts over as you continue the conversation.
clear
If the reporter still hasn't responded after 10 days, then leave a comment letting them know that you're closing the issue, and close the report as "Not identified".
clear
If you come across a UR that is older than 10 days that has not been touched by another editor (common in more rural areas), apologize for the late response and see if the reporter still remembers anything about the problem. If they can't, or they don't respond after 4 days, close the report as "Not identified".

Accepted parameters:
Other things to remember about handling URs:
*<code>name=</code> The name of the event.
* Keep responses short; some folks might be responding in the Waze app and reading long responses can be a pain!
*<code>area=</code> The county or are the event takes place in.
* You should always leave a comment on a UR, even if you're just closing out old reports.
*<code>date=</code> The estimated date(s) this event happens on.
* Plugins such as URO+, UR Comments, and UR-MP Tracking can make responding to URs much easier. Check them out!
*<code>road=</code> The main road(s) affected by this event.
* Be sure to review the Wiki documentation on Handling Update Requests, especially the section about Response Etiquette.
*<code>pl=</code> A permalink to the affected road(s), or a link to documenting listing all the affected roads (usually a Waze event closure document).
*<code>source=</code> A link to an official information source for this event, a government website, the hosting organizations webpage, etc.
*<code>status=</code> Whether this event has been submitted to Waze yet for this season. It accepts the following options spelled only exactly as listed here in order to correctly change the color of the row, filled with anything else will display with a white background
**<code>not submitted</code> produces a red background
**<code>submitted</code> produces a light green background
**<code>in progress</code> produces an orange background.
*Up to six editors can be listed in the table for any event. These can be the editors who are working to get it submitted, maintain the segments, or just have special knowledge of the event/area. They are entered as unnamed parameters. Meaning they are to be entered between two pipe (|) characters of the adjacent parameters. Each editors name (without any spaces) should be separated with a pipe (|).
*<code>updated=</code> the date this event was last updated in this table. This is used to keep the table current, and identify stale entries.

Speed Limits
The updated parameter (<code>|updated=YY/MM(/DD)|</code>) should be updated any time you update a row. Put the date you are modifying the row after the equals sign (=).

RootPage2 follows the USA standard for speed limits. Do not deviate from the guidelines without first obtaining consensus to do so via the state forum linked on this page.
The <code>|date=|</code>, and <code>|updated=|</code> parameters should use the format YY/MM/DD. The day of the month is optional. Using this format will make it easier to sort the list by updated date. This will help ensure the information on the list is current, and make it easy to find stale rows which may need to be adopted by other editors.

While RootPage2 does not have any specific laws concerning speed limits (other than not exceeding them), we've decided to mark the speed limits at the sign. This means that, wherever there is a regulatory speed limit sign, the segment should be split at that point and the new speed limit marked on the new segment just beyond the sign, as specified in the national standard.

Also, though RootPage2 does define default speed limits for "business or residence districts" (25mph), speed limits should only be set on a segment if there is an enforceable speed limit sign somewhere on that road. Do NOT set default speed limits on roads with no speed limit signs, as this could cause confusion among drivers.
For example an Event row should look like this;

These rows fill the major Event table, and are modified using the template . If you are working on a Major Event in PesachZ, please add add that event to this table. If the event is already listed, please add your username to the row, preceded by a pipe (|), and change the date to today's date in the updated= parameter.

This template accepts many parameters which must be separated from each other using pipe characters (|), but can be placed in any order and will automatically the correct parts of the table. To use a parameter you must keep the name of parameter (the part before the equals sign (=) identical to this list, and only modify what goes after the equals sign (=).

Accepted parameters:

  • name= The name of the event.
  • area= The county or are the event takes place in.
  • date= The estimated date(s) this event happens on.
  • road= The main road(s) affected by this event.
  • pl= A permalink to the affected road(s), or a link to documenting listing all the affected roads (usually a Waze event closure document).
  • source= A link to an official information source for this event, a government website, the hosting organizations webpage, etc.
  • status= Whether this event has been submitted to Waze yet for this season. It accepts the following options spelled only exactly as listed here in order to correctly change the color of the row, filled with anything else will display with a white background
    • not submitted produces a red background
    • submitted produces a light green background
    • in progress produces an orange background.
  • Up to six editors can be listed in the table for any event.
  • updated= the date this event was last updated in this table. This is used to keep the table current, and identify stale entries.

The updated parameter (|updated=YY/MM(/DD)|) should be updated any time you update a row. Put the date you are modifying the row after the equals sign (=).

The |date=|, and |updated=| parameters should use the format YY/MM/DD. The day of the month is optional. Using this format will make it easier to sort the list by updated date. This will help ensure the information on the list is current, and make it easy to find stale rows which may need to be adopted by other editors.

For example an Event row should look like this;

If there are multiple editors it should look like this

Whenever you edit this table, please be sure to include the name of the event you are editing in the summary field under the edit box. ————————————————————————————————————
